Finally, You Can Buy an Official White iPhone 4

You know that phone that was released last year?  Well, you can now buy it in a different color!  Yes, after a lot of waiting, several delays and a few enterprising individuals making their own; you’ll be able to buy an official white iPhone 4 at your local Apple emporium from the 28th April 2011.
The spec is exactly the same as the black model and it will be available in the same 16GB and 32GB flavors, but according to Apple’s Phil Schiller ‘it’s beautiful’; which will be reason enough for many to purchase one.  However, we’re presuming the vast majority of sales will be to new customers given the choice between a black or white model, rather than existing iPhone 4 owners swapping their black one over.
According to the press blurb, the white iPhone 4 will be available in the following countries:

If you’re home isn’t mentioned then don’t worry, Apple also say other countries will be added to the list soon.

White iPhone 4 is Thicker than Black

Apple’s white iPhone 4 officially went on sale yesterday. While Apple claimed that the white model was exactly the same as the black version, it seems there is a slight difference between the two color options.
White iPhone 4 owners are reporting that the new handset is slightly thicker than its black counterpart. Yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs and SVP Phil Schiller opened up regarding the challenges faced when bringing the elusive white iPhone 4 to the market.
According to a MacRumors forum member, he noticed the difference when his white iPhone 4 was tightly fitting into his case:
“Just picked up the white iPhone 4 and realized it doesn’t fit into my Incase slider case. It appears that Apple has increased the size of the plastic that borders the glass on both sides by about 1mm.”
Ryan Cash of MarketCircle claims that he noticed the difference right when he picked up the shiny new white iPhone 4:
“A colleague of mine just picked up a 16 GB iPhone 4 in white. I was a bit surprised when I picked it up off his desk (I had my black 32 GB in my other hand at the same time) – it immediately felt thicker.”
The fine folks over at TiPB did some real measurements to see exactly how much thicker then white iPhone 4 was. According to their measurements, the white iPhone 4 is 0.2mm thicker than the black iPhone 4. So, basically it’s around 9.5mm, compared to the black iPhone 4 which is 9.3mm.
Could the extra thickness have to do with the paint issues iPhone manufacturers were facing?
